Whimsie Doodles is Mad for Plaid

Yesterday on the Whimsie Doodles PCP page Denise put out a new challenge - Mad for Plaid (WWC32)! I chose one of the new Tumbleweed digital stamps, Dottie's Garden, to use for this challenge.

I know Dottie should be colored more traditional ladybuy-like colors, but I thought I would match her more to the colors in the plaid background paper. I did add some red by coloring the little 'lady' on the flower a bright red - thought it would be a nice pop of color.

One of my fave things about the new Tumbleweeds Collection are the colorable eyes! Instead of filling in the iris with the traditional black, Melyssa has left these gorgeous peepers open for personalization. For great tips on coloring them, and some great COPIC color combos, check out the eye coloring tutorial on the Whimsie Doodles blog.

The layout is from the new Card Patterns Sketch challenge - #64. I cut the card base slightly thinner than the standard 4.25" wide and placed a scallop-punched strip of the plaid paper on the inside of the card. I added some barely-off-white grograin ribbon to the bottom. I found this at the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago and it matches the Neenah Natural Ice cardstock perfectly!

If you aren't already a member of Whimsie Doodles' PCP page, I suggest you head right on over and get signed up. It is totally FREE and Melyssa has often gave out special freebies to members.
